About Carrie

Carrie is a fitness enthusiast having participated in high level, organized sports through the collegiate level. The benefits she received from regular participation in structured exercise lead her to pursue a career in fitness.

After graduating magna cum laude from Kalamazoo College in 2004 with an honors degree in Biology, Carrie earned her personal trainer and group fitness instructor certifications through the American Council on Exercise and her massage therapy certification from the Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts. Carrie believes that participating in a health and fitness program should increase one’s body awareness and health, as well as enhance one’s quality of life.  Carrie completed a Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition from New York Chiropractic College in 2015.  She enjoys working with individuals looking to improve their health and wellness through movement and nutrition.  Carrie teaches several group fitness classes at The Fitness Spot and facilitates over 200 personal training and/or nutrition counseling sessions per month.  Clients are local as well as national via her distance-coaching availability. Carrie has owned and operated a personal training, group fitness and nutritional healing studio since 2007 and currently owns and operates The Fitness Spot located inside of the recently renovated Firehouse Fitness building.  Carrie says the most rewarding aspect of her career is empowering people to take charge of their health and achieve life changing results.   The Fitness Spot supports and encourages health and wellness in the Kalamazoo community.
